Car Addictions
Car Addictions
I love/hate cars, they are responsible for so much social and environmental damage. And yet, like so many people, I can be totally seduced by them. I don’t know exactly were it came from, but I seem to have accumulated numerous forms of transportation. Fortunately, I have been blessed with a somewhat mechanically inclined brain, so the cost of ownership has been transfered from loss of cash, to loss of weekends.
I guess you could say the addiction might have started by playing with toy cars on the sidewalk with my buddies, We collected Corgi Toys to be precise, I still have my full collection, (packrat!). But I think it mostly started with a 1948 International pickup that my father bought for my brother when I was 13. My brother, used to a Triumph TR 4, not surprisingly, declined the offer, allowing me to step in and pledge all my allowance and lawn mowing cash to claim the truck. I still drive that truck around, (packrat!) mostly to cut wood or for trips to the dump.
